Rozmaring Community Park

Rozmaring Community Park

Goal: Community Space & Ecology

A climate-adaptive community park project based on permaculture principles for water retention and biodiversity.

The Rozmaring Community Park (Pistály) is a green area being renewed with a permaculture approach, jointly implemented by the Pistály and Szabadházi Hill Association (PISZE) and the Youth Green Incubator Association. The project's goal is to transform the hydrologically sensitive area into a "living sponge" capable of handling intensive rainfall while remaining a viable, green community space even in dry periods.

The design focuses on water retention: contour trenches (swales), filter fields, and rain gardens slow down, clean, and guide water into the soil, thereby supporting the natural survival of vegetation even without irrigation. The system fulfills not only a water management but also an ecological function, providing a habitat for pollinators and strengthening local biodiversity.

The park is also an open model area where visitors can directly experience how nature-based solutions work. Its purpose is to provide inspiration and practical knowledge to the local community and professionals on how to apply water retention and climate-adaptive design principles in their own gardens.
